This item is not a kit of the aircraft but a set of replacement wheels cast in modeling resin. It replaces the wheels from a plastic kit in 1:48 scale and matches the late form of the tires. A resin casting holds a crisper tread pattern as well as the fine lettering on the sidewall, which are hard to reproduce in injection-molded plastic. The number of parts and the contents of the package are stated on the box. Before buying we recommend checking the fit with the particular kit you are building, because the diameter of the hub and the attachment differ between kits. The wheels are cast to suit the ICM kit.
The Douglas A-26 Invader was an American twin-engine attack and bomber aircraft of the end of the Second World War. It was notable for its clean aerodynamic shape, a pair of radial engines and a laminar-flow wing, thanks to which it was among the faster machines in its class. The type stayed in service long after the war and saw a number of modifications. During its operating career the design of its wheels changed as well, which is the reason why add-on sets distinguish early and late types.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent because of mold release agent residue. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the surface wet with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, that is with super glue. Paint the tire in a dark gray shade rather than pure black, as it looks more faithful on a model, and separate the hub with masking tape or a circular mask. A light dusting of pigment at the contact patch will give the wheel a more realistic look.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
