An accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Japanese Nakajima A6M2-N Rufe floatplane fighter in 1:48 scale. According to the name these are exhausts made by 3D printing. It is not a kit or a finished model but a replacement for the parts from the box. Exhausts are among the places where plastic parts leave the strongest mark on the final impression, because the opening tends to be blind and the wall too thick. A printed replacement is usually hollow and has thinner walls, so the model looks more convincing even without further work.
The Nakajima A6M2-N came about by converting the Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero carrier fighter into a floatplane with a large central float and two auxiliary floats under the wings. It was used where no runway was available. The radial engine of the aircraft exhausts its gases around the circumference of the cowling, so the exhausts are clearly visible from outside and quickly become covered with the typical rusty and sooty deposit.
Cut the printed parts off the supports with a sharp scalpel; never snap them off. Sand the remains of the supports with fine paper and protect your airways while doing so. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before painting. They are bonded with super glue. For painting, a dark metallic base proves itself, over which a rusty and brown shade is applied, finished with a sooty pigment at the opening. Fit the exhausts only after the fuselage and the engine cowling are sprayed, otherwise you will have to mask them.
This is an add-on to a model, not a kit. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
