1:48 AGM-28 Hound dog

The AGM-28 Hound Dog in 1:48 scale

An accessory for builders of aircraft models: the American AGM-28 Hound Dog guided missile in 1:48 scale. What exactly the set consists of and how many pieces it contains are stated by the list enclosed by the manufacturer. This is an accessory set, not a kit of an aircraft.

The real subject

The Hound Dog was a large guided missile with a range of hundreds of kilometers, carried by the B-52 strategic bomber slung under the wing. It was powered by a turbojet in a pod under the body of the missile, it held its course by inertial navigation and its warhead was nuclear. One curiosity is that the engines of both missiles could be started during the takeoff of the carrier and help it into the air, their fuel then being replenished in flight from the tanks of the bomber. The missile stayed in service from the start of the nineteen sixties through the whole of the following decade.

Building and painting

• wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the coat will not hold
• cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down
• choose the glue according to the material of the parts, and cyanoacrylate will serve universally
• the missile is slender and long, so when slinging it under the wing watch that it sits parallel with the axis of the aircraft
• you will find the particular procedure and a drawing of the placement in the manufacturer's instructions
