According to the name it contains four GBU-54 bombs in the thermally protected configuration, that is with a heat-shielded casing, and it is intended for models in 1:32 scale. The carriers listed are the AV-8B, the F/A-18A to F and the F-35B and F-35C.
GBU-54 is the designation of a bomb from the JDAM family in the LJDAM version, that is Laser JDAM. The basis is a conventional aircraft bomb fitted with a guidance kit that combines satellite and inertial navigation with a laser seeker in the nose. The laser channel is precisely the reason why this type is used even against moving targets, for which coordinates alone are not enough. The thermally protected casing is connected with the demands of storage and handling aboard ships. The set matches modern equipment and suits models in a current configuration.
Wash the resin castings in lukewarm water with detergent, otherwise the paint will not grip on the remains of the mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the cut faces, ideally wet and with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue, cyanoacrylate; cement for plastic will not join resin. Apply a primer before painting; with modern American stores a clean and smooth surface then helps, because the finishes tend to be flat and single-colored with prominent colored bands. Paint the bombs separately from the model and hang them on only at the end of the build.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
