The 1:48 Ammunition 12.7x99 mm (.50 BMG) set is a modeling accessory, not a kit. It contains miniatures of rounds of 12.7x99 mm caliber in 1:48 scale, which are stowed in boxes and containers or placed around a scene by a mount, by a vehicle or by the open gun bay of an aircraft.
The 12.7x99 mm round is known mainly under the commercial designation .50 BMG. It is the standard American heavy ammunition of the Browning M2 machine gun, whose aircraft version the AN/M2 made up the main armament of American fighters of the Second World War, while the heavy ground version the M2HB is still mounted on vehicle mounts today. Do not confuse it with the Soviet 12.7x108 mm round: the bullet caliber is the same, but the case is longer, and in scale that shows on the part.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a cutting mat, sand the residue from production back and degrease the surface. A proven sequence is a brass shade on the case, a darker and more matte tone on the bullet and finally the colored tip marking suggested with a fine brush. A thin brown wash and wiping it off will give the brass depth. If you are stowing the parts in a box, it is enough to paint the top layer, as the lower one will not be seen anyway. Fix them into a scene with cyanoacrylate glue.
The set is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
