An antenna mount for German armored vehicles of the Second World War, 1:48 scale is a small resin accessory that on a model replaces a simplified or entirely missing antenna mounting part.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but a small accessory for building a model. It is the mounting for an antenna mast, that is the part which on real vehicles sits on the hull or on the turret and tends to be exactly the piece a kit in a small scale handles with no more than a suggested bump. Swapping it for a separate casting is one of the simplest ways to lend a model credibility right where the eye looks first.
German armored vehicles of the Second World War had their radio equipment arranged around an antenna mast held in a sprung cradle, which protected both the antenna and the crew when driving across country and under branches. It is the shape of that cradle that is characteristic and it shows up well on a model. The set is in 1:48 scale, so it suits kits of German equipment in this scale; the manufacturer also makes the same part in further scales for models of a different size.
The part is small, so work over a tray with a raised edge so that the casting is not lost. Wash it in lukewarm soapy water before gluing, cut the casting block off with a fresh blade and level the surface gently. It is bonded with super glue, applied with a pin in a minute drop. It is easiest to paint it before fitting; add a dark wash and then seat the part on the model.
