Resin wheels with weighted tires for a model of the Antonov An-2 and An-3 Colt in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian maker Armory. An accessory for a model, not an aircraft kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of cast wheels with weighted tires for a model of the Antonov An-2 biplane and its turboprop successor the An-3 in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the plastic wheels from the kit. On a machine with fixed landing gear the wheels are visible all the time, so a flattened tire pays off most on them. The casting is in one piece and has no parting line running through the middle of the tire. The box describes the set as universal.
The An-2 is a single-engine biplane that first flew in 1947 and was then built for decades, a large part of that in Poland. It was powered by the ASh-62IR radial engine and, thanks to its huge wing area and fixed landing gear with soft tires, it managed short and unpaved strips. It was used for agricultural work, for transport, for paradropping and as an ambulance machine. The An-3 is its later form with a turboprop engine. In the West the type carried the reporting name Colt.
Wash the parts in warm soapy water so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the face down, protecting your breathing while you sand. Glue with cyanoacrylate, that is, super glue; cement for polystyrene does not hold on resin. Point the flattened part of the tire toward the base and align both sides. Spray a primer before painting.
The set is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
