Replacement main landing gear wheels cast in resin, 1:48 scale, the manufacturer's part number ARAW48423, from the Ukrainian brand Armory. The set is aimed at machines from the middle of Lancaster production and the manufacturer describes it as universal, that is without a tie to a single kit. The tire is cast weighted, with a flattened contact patch and a slight bulge in the sidewall. Compared with the plastic wheels from the kit there is no mold seam across the tread, so the most tedious sanding of the whole landing gear build disappears.
The Lancaster flew mostly at night, the crew numbered seven and the aircraft became a symbol of the British bomber offensive in the second half of the war. During production it went through a series of small changes: the engines, the turret armament, the radar equipment and also the design of the main landing gear wheels, which carry the greatest load on takeoff with a full bomb load. That is exactly why replacement wheels are sold by production period.
Wash the resin before gluing, otherwise not even a primer will hold on it. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the patch flat on a sheet of glass. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and seat the wheel so that the flattened part points vertically downward; a weighted wheel set at an angle shows on the model at once. Tint the tire toward gray, as pure black looks like a hole on a model.
