B-17F Flying Fortress Masking Set 1:48 (Art Scale)

A set of precisely pre-cut masking stencils from Art Scale for the large plastic model of the American four-engined B-17F Flying Fortress bomber in 1:48 scale. The stencils are die-cut from quality kabuki tape, the parts are numbered and come with instructions. This is the version for the outer face of the glazing, that is, for the extensive glazing of the nose, the cockpit and the turrets. The cutouts match the parts of the HK Models kit the set is used with; with another manufacturer the shapes differ.

The real subject

The B-17 Flying Fortress was an American heavy four-engined bomber of the Second World War, central to the daylight bombing raids over Europe. The B-17F preceded the later G version with the chin turret and was notable for its heavy defensive armament and its ability to survive severe damage.

Use

• Lift the parts out of the sheet and transfer them onto the degreased glazing of the nose, the cockpit and the turrets.
• This version masks the outer frames of the extensive glazing; mask with an airbrush or a brush.
• The tape holds a sharp paint edge and keeps paint from creeping onto the glazing.
• Once the paint has dried, peel the stencils off carefully; kabuki tape comes away cleanly.

Who the set is for

For modelers of large bombers, for whom cutting dozens of frames by hand would take a great deal of time. The stencils are designed for the shape and the panel lines of this particular kit.

This is a masking accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
