The engine set for the B-24 Liberator in 1:48 scale from Metallic Details is a resin accessory that replaces the simplified engines of the plastic model with finely worked castings. Intended kits: Revell and Monogram.

This is an accessory set, not an aircraft model. It replaces the radial engines of the plastic model of the four-engine B-24 Liberator bomber with castings of markedly finer detail. The difference shows above all on the cylinder fins, on the valve rocker covers and on the bundles of pipework, that is on the features clearly visible through the open cowling ring and usually only suggested on the production plastic part. The castings are shaped for the Revell and Monogram kits.
The B-24 Liberator is a four-engine bomber with a high-mounted wing of large slender section and twin vertical tail surfaces. Power came from four fourteen-cylinder two-row air-cooled radial engines housed in circular cowlings with a front ring that leaves the front row of cylinders partly exposed. That is exactly why the engine is one of the first places the eye falls on a finished model.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and cut the casting blocks off with a saw; protect your airways while sanding. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). We recommend assembling, painting and weathering the engines separately and only fitting them into the cowling at the end, because once it is closed you can no longer reach them. Paint over a primer. A proven sequence is a dark base, a metallic shade over it, then a thinned dark wash into the recesses between the fins and finally a dry brush to pull out the edges of the finning. Touch in the rocker covers and the pipes with a brush.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
