The real subject

The North American B-25 Mitchell is an American twin-engine medium bomber of the Second World War with characteristic twin vertical tails. The C and D forms are very close to each other and differed above all in the factory that built them. Machines of this type found a use in every theater and to this day they are among the most frequently built twin-engine bombers.

What the set is for

The set contains masks in the shape of the control surfaces of the aircraft, that is of the rudder and elevators, the ailerons and the landing flaps. It defines an area so that it can be sprayed in a slightly different shade and the division between the fixed and the movable part stands out. The large wing and the sizeable tail surfaces of the B-25 are otherwise quite a uniform area on a model, so this division tells in the result. The masks are pre-cut and intended for B-25C/D models in 1:48 scale from the Academy and Accurate Miniatures companies.

Building and painting tips

• Fit them only onto a dried and degreased base finish.
• Keep the difference of shade fine, so that it comes across as a shadow and not as a second color.
• Spray in thin coats and at a lower pressure, so that paint does not run under an edge.
• The recommended order of the steps is in the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with the set.
• Take the mask off shortly after it has dried and pull it at a slant to the surface, not straight up.
