Replacement wheels for the B-26 Marauder model in 1:48 scale, late grooved tread pattern.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Martin B-26 Marauder was an American twin-engine bomber of the Second World War. It carried a pair of radial engines, stood on nose gear and had a fairly small wing for its weight, so it took off and landed at high speed and at first had a reputation among crews as a demanding machine. The landing gear wheels therefore worked under a heavy load and in period photographs they are often markedly worn.
Replacement wheels in 1:48 scale with the late grooved tread pattern, that is with a tread carrying longitudinal grooves around its circumference. The tread pattern varied on period aircraft tires, so choose it according to photographs of the particular machine. The parts list is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder so that the shape of the tread is preserved. A tire is not black: a dark gray shade looks better, and the grooving picked out with a dry brush then stands out on it. Paint the wheel rim separately and divide it from the tire with a sharp edge, best with masking tape or a patient brush. If the wheel carries a suggested tire flattening, turn it downward when gluing so that it sits on the ground.
The set suits modelers bothered by the simplified wheels of a kit without a readable tread pattern. Paints, glue and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
