A replacement gun turret in resin for models of the Invader in 1:48 scale. This is not a kit but a detail accessory for a model under construction. The designation B-26 on the Invader corresponds to the later period of service: after the change of the designation system the original A-26 was carried as the B-26, which is a different machine from the earlier twin-engine bomber of the same numerical designation from another manufacturer.
A remotely controlled turret is a striking element of shape on the spine of the fuselage and at the same time a place where several details converge at once: the outline of the housing, the mounting of the barrels and the transition to the skin. An injected part tends to be divided by a seam across its whole surface, and its shape has to respect the direction of removal from the mold, so the roundings are simplified. A resin casting is usually in one piece and carries sharper edges and more legible surface detail. The contents of the package and the number of parts are stated on the box.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that the primer holds. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the seating surface by wet sanding on glass or a flat support, otherwise the turret will sit tilted on the fuselage. Try dry whether the base lines up with the outline on the spine of the fuselage; a small difference can be evened out with a thin layer of putty after gluing. It is joined with super glue. Painting is easiest off the model: spray the turret separately, apply a wash and fit it only onto the finished, clear-coated fuselage. That way you avoid masking a complicated shape.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
