A bathroom set in 1:48 scale is a scenic accessory for interior dioramas — stand-alone objects of a scene, not parts for a model.

A scenic set for a diorama in 1:48 scale, built around the equipment of a bathroom. It is not a kit of machinery and not parts to be fitted to a model — these are stand-alone objects of a scene, built and painted separately, which create an interior on a base. A bathroom is a rewarding subject for small vignettes and for cutaways of buildings: it is a closed, easily bounded space in which even a few well-placed objects create a complete and legible scene.
The set suits interior vignettes with civilian figures, a cutaway of a residential house and also the completion of a larger scene where one room can be seen into. It combines well with other interior accessories in the same scale. The 1:48 scale is common with aircraft models and with the figures that go with them, but in recent years it has also taken hold with stand-alone interior dioramas, where a smaller scale makes it possible to build a whole room on a small area. The manufacturer also makes the same subject in further scales.
First lay the objects out on the base — with an interior the arrangement matters more than the building itself. Clean the parts up and try the joints dry; with sanitary objects the surfaces have to be smooth and the edges sharp, otherwise they do not look like glazed ceramic. Choose the glue according to the material: cyanoacrylate super glue for resin and printed parts, modeling cement for plastic on injection-molded parts. Lay down a filler primer, paint smoothly and preferably by spraying; seal the white ceramic with a gloss varnish, and the taps and fittings, by contrast, in a metallic shade. Keep the weathering restrained — a little limescale around the drains and fine dust in the joints are enough, as overdone soiling would take a scene somewhere other than where you want it.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
