The Scales texture plate from Green Stuff World

A plate with an engraved scale relief. Pressing it into soft modeling putty gives a regular scaled surface which it is practically impossible to engrave by hand. The scale is one of the most universal patterns of all: it is used on dragons and reptiles, on scale armor and on decorative elements. Check the dimensions of the plate, the material and the size of the scale on the packaging.

Use

• Roll the modeling putty out into a thin even layer.
• Dampen the plate and the putty or wipe them with a release agent, so that the putty does not stick into the relief.
• Press evenly over the whole area, ideally with a roller, so that the impression is equally deep.
• Lift the impression off while it is soft and lay it on the body, the tail or the armor of a figure.
• Once it has cured, trim the edges, work the transitions in with filler and emphasize the scales with a wash and a dry brush.

For modelers of fantasy figures, for those who do conversions and for builders of dioramas. The scale pattern is a classic on dragons, lizards, sea creatures and also on historically flavored scale armor. The plate is a lasting aid, is used over and over and pays off everywhere you need a larger continuous textured area.
