A photo-etched accessory set for a kit of the Bell P-39N Airacobra fighter in 1:48 scale, number 491484.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra is an American fighter with an unusual layout: the engine is housed behind the pilot in the middle of the fuselage and drives the propeller with a long shaft led under the floor of the cockpit. The cockpit was entered by doors on the pattern of automobiles, and the aircraft stood on a nose gear, which in its day was still an unusual solution. The N version was among those that served with the Soviet Air Force in large numbers.
A photo-etched accessory set for a kit of the P-39N aircraft in 1:48 scale. The parts are etched from thin metal sheet, so they come out considerably finer to scale than the plastic parts from the kit. Which parts of the kit are removed before fitting and how the individual parts are bent is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard base, not with nippers; sever the tab close to the part and sand the remnant down. Lead the bend in a bender or between two blades in one go; repeated rebending tires the metal and the part cracks. It is glued with super glue applied from the tip of a toothpick; cement for polystyrene has no effect on metal. Before painting, degrease the sheet and use a primer for metal.
The set is meant for modelers who have already worked with photo-etch and want to raise the detail of a finished aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
