This is not a kit of an aircraft, but an accessory for the pilot's cockpit. The LööK line from the Czech maker Eduard combines a resin instrument panel with a finished color treatment and pre-painted seat belts in etched sheet from the Steel line. The point is a single one: to get a convincing panel with legible instruments and belts that look like fabric into the cockpit, and to do so without the labor of painting tiny dials by hand. Please check the particular contents of the package beforehand against the illustration of the product and the manufacturer's data.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an American single-seat fighter with an unusual layout. The engine sat behind the pilot in the middle of the fuselage and drove the propeller through a long shaft led under the cockpit. The space freed in the nose allowed a cannon firing through the propeller hub to be installed. The aircraft was one of the first fighters with a nosewheel undercarriage, and the cockpit was entered through car-style doors. The P-39Q version was the most numerous production variant. A large part of the output went to the Soviet Union under allied deliveries, where the machines came into their own above all in combat at low and medium altitude.
The set is fitted before the fuselage is closed up — try the fit dry while both halves are still free. Wash the resin panel free of release agent, cut the casting block off with a saw and glue it with cyanoacrylate. Do not spray over the painted parts; the printing is easily damaged. Shape the etched seat belts with blunt tweezers or a toothpick, so that they look as if they were hanging loose over the edge of the seat. Finally, bring the cockpit out gently with a dark wash, but leave the painted panel out of it.
The set is supplied as an accessory, not as a model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
