The set is prepared for a model of the British low-flying strike machine in 1:48 scale. It brings safety straps that are fitted onto the seats of a model under construction.
The Buccaneer ranks among the most interesting British designs of the postwar era. It was created as a carrier strike aircraft able to fly under radar cover just above the water and hit a target before the defenses could react. Its sturdy airframe took low flight in turbulent air remarkably well, and the machine kept that advantage after moving to land-based squadrons. Two men sat in the cabin, one behind the other, the rear station belonging to the navigator who operated the guidance and weapons equipment. The type stayed in service into the 1990s.
The long canopy lets both seats be seen at once, so it pays to give both the same attention and to paint them at the same time, so that the shades do not diverge. Fit the straps onto finished seats and let them fall unevenly, otherwise the assembly looks stiff. If you plan to build the model with the nose folded or the bomb bay open, the cabin belongs to that too: in such an assembly everyone looks at the model closely and an unfinished interior shows at once.
