Photo-etched accessory for a model of the Bristol Blenheim Mk.IF aircraft in 1:48 scale. The metal parts replace those that come out too thick in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bristol Blenheim was a British twin-engine light bomber that in the late 1930s was among the modern machines of its class. The Mk.IF version came about through conversion to a fighter form: it was given a gun pack under the fuselage and was used, among other things, for night duties. The set is listed for the Blenheim Mk.IF in 1:48 scale.
Etched sheet can be made thinner than injection-molded plastic allows, and it therefore looks more faithful on a model anywhere the material should be thin on the real thing. At the same time it carries fine detail that a plastic part could not hold in this scale. Which kit the set is cut for and which parts it holds are worth checking in the manufacturer's instructions before you start building.
The parts are held on the fret by fine tabs. Cut through them with a sharp blade on a hard surface and never break them out, because a bent photo-etched part is very hard to straighten. Make the folds over a sharp edge or in a bending tool, so that they are straight along the whole length. They are glued with cyanoacrylate or two-part glue, as cement for plastic will not hold on metal. Work with tweezers and over a tray with a rim, otherwise a small part will spring away and vanish in the carpet. Degrease the parts before painting and lay down a primer.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
