1:48 Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress radio compartment SPACE from Eduard improves the radio operator's compartment of the bomber. An accessory for a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set from Eduard's SPACE line meant for the radio operator's compartment of the B-17F Flying Fortress in 1:48 scale. It combines a decal film with relief and photo-etched metal items. It is not a model of the aircraft but the fittings for one section of the fuselage; the kit and the paints have to be obtained separately.
On large bombers the radio operator's compartment is one of the places that really can be seen, through the glazing and the open gun windows. Kit makers usually handle it with a coarse impression of boxes and panels, so once it is painted it blends into a single flat area. This set breaks that part up: the transmitter cabinets, the control panels and the wall inserts get a depth of their own and the compartment stops looking empty.
Paint the inside of the fuselage in the basic interior shade first and give it a gloss coat so that the film adheres. Transfer the decal piece by piece, draw off the surplus water and smooth the surface with a soft brush. Cut the photo-etched items off as close to the fret as possible, true the cut up with a file and glue them on only once the decals have dried. Finally, dust the whole compartment with a matte coat and bring out the corners with a fine wash.
