The SPACE range from the Czech manufacturer Eduard consists of color three-dimensional decals that are applied directly onto the parts of the kit. This item concentrates on the radio compartment of the Flying Fortress heavy bomber in the B-17F and B-17G versions. It is neither a kit nor a set of resin castings, but a decal accessory for a 1:48 model that you already have.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engine heavy bomber with its crew spread over several separate compartments of the fuselage. The radio compartment lay behind the bomb bay and, besides the radio operator station, it housed the communications equipment. The B-17F and B-17G versions differed outwardly mainly in armament and in the chin turret, but the internal layout of this part of the fuselage stayed close enough for one set to cover both.
Three-dimensional decals have an embossed relief and a finished color print, so they take the place of laborious painting and shading of tiny instruments. Leave the surface under them smooth and painted so that the element adheres well. Moisten only the backing paper under the element, lift the parts with tweezers and blot off the excess moisture with the corner of a paper towel. Fix them with white PVA glue; a decal softener does not belong here, because its chemistry attacks the printed resin. The finished interior is usually left unvarnished so that the print is not muted.
The accessory is supplied without a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
