This item is not a kit of an aircraft but an accessory from the Eduard brand out of its resin branch. It contains an ejection seat for the cockpit of the Super Hornet in 1:48 scale and assumes that you have the base model or will buy it separately. The casting itself is finer than the plastic part from the box and can be taken to display-case quality without laborious additions from wire and plastic profile.
On modern combat aircraft the cockpit tends to be open and the seat is the first thing anyone who stops over the model looks at. Injection-molded plastic has its limits: the belts are suggested only by shallow engraving, the handles of the ejection grip merge with the seat back and the side panels have no depth. A resin or printed casting carries these details in a form that only has to be painted and brought out.
Separate the part from the casting block with a fine-bladed saw, not with nippers, so that the detail does not break off. Wash the surface in lukewarm water with detergent or with alcohol; that frees it of remains of mold release agent, on which paint does not hold. Then come the base coat, the dark gray and black shades of the cushion and the structure, and a fine emphasis with a dry brush. The belts are set apart in a lighter shade and the metal buckles can be suggested with a fine brush. It is better to paint the seat separately and to glue it into the model at the very end with cyanoacrylate glue.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a base kit. Glue, paints and other parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
