A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the twin-engine Douglas DB-7B, known in British service as the Boston III.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas DB-7B was a twin-engine light bomber and attack aircraft of the early 1940s, known in British service under the name Boston III. It was powered by a pair of radial engines in nacelles on the wing, had a glazed nose for the navigator and was among the first combat aircraft with nosewheel landing gear. In the ranks of the Royal Air Force it made its name on daylight attacks against targets in occupied Europe.
This is an add-on set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale. The parts are cut from thin sheet and are held on the fret by small tabs. Which parts of the model the set refines and where the individual parts belong is shown in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface; scissors would bend the metal. Make the bends along the scored lines, preferably in a bending tool or between two blades. Bond with super glue or two-part epoxy; cement for polystyrene will not join metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the sheet and spray it with a primer, otherwise the finish chips off during handling. The plastic parts the photo-etch replaces usually have to be cut away first and the surface sanded down.
The set belongs in the hands of modelers who want to take a Boston III model beyond the plastic parts and do not mind working with tweezers and a magnifier. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
