A crate and RS-132 rockets in 1:48 scale. A diorama accessory for a scene on a field airfield or with armorers preparing a machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A diorama set that adds to the scene the small thing that brings a whole tableau to life: a transport crate together with unguided rockets. It is exactly such objects that turn a model on a base into a scene with a story, because they hint at what is happening on the airfield at that moment. According to the name these are rockets of the RS-132 type and the set is in 1:48 scale.
Unguided rockets of this family were typical armament of Soviet ground-attack and bomber aircraft. They were hung under the wing on simple rails and used against ground targets, where they stood in for artillery fire in places the guns could not reach. For the armorers they meant a lot of hand work, because they came to the airfield in crates and had to be fitted one by one before takeoff.
Leave the crate open and lay some of the rockets beside it; the scene gains a story at once. Bring the wood out with a lighter base and a dark wash that draws out the grain of the planks; darken the metal parts instead and add small scuffs. Dust the ground around the crate with a pigment in the same tone as the surrounding terrain, so the object does not look as though it has merely been set down on the scene. Add the lettering on the sides sparingly.
