Replacement landing gear doors for the Bristol Beaufighter in 1:48 scale. Parts from Quickboost for the British twin-engine fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
With this accessory Quickboost takes care of the landing gear doors of the British twin-engine Beaufighter. It covers a single assembly on the model; the airframe and the cockpit are not included — it assumes you already have the base under construction.
The Beaufighter grew out of the torpedo-carrying Beaufort and became one of the most versatile British aircraft of the war. With Hercules radial engines and heavy cannon armament in the belly of the fuselage it served first as a night fighter carrying the first airborne radar in operational service, and later as an attack and antishipping machine. The TF.X version carried a torpedo as well as unguided rockets and hunted convoys off the Norwegian and Dutch coasts.
On the real aircraft the inside of the doors is usually in the same shade as the landing gear bay, while the outside carries the camouflage of the fuselage — so paint the two sides separately and mask the boundary. Once dry, a dark wash in the edges and light chipping along them help, because on machines in the field the doors were knocked about quickly and muddy grime was thrown onto them from the tires. On machines operated from grass fields the edge of the door picked up the most, so the weathering there can be noticeably heavier than on the rest of the landing gear.
The package does not contain paints or glue.
