A set of resin exhaust stubs for the American transport aircraft Douglas C-47 Skytrain in 1:48 scale by the manufacturer Quickboost. It is not an aircraft model but a precisely cast detail part that replaces the exhausts from the base kit with a more faithful shape with drilled openings.
The C-47 Skytrain was the military version of the legendary Douglas DC-3 airliner and during the Second World War and after it was among the most widespread transport machines. It was powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial engines whose exhausts projected from the engine nacelles. The replacement resin stubs have sharper detail and open outlets, so the engine nacelles of a model look more convincing than solid parts from an injection mold.
Resin parts call for more careful preparation: wash them free of mold release agent in lukewarm water with dish soap, separate them carefully from the casting block and glue them with cyanoacrylate; protect your airways when sanding. Paint the exhausts with a combination of rust, dark metal and burnt steel and complete them with weathered pigment and soot marks along the airflow.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
