Masks for the cockpit glazing and for the wheels of an F-4C Phantom II model in 1:48 scale, cut for the Zoukei-Mura kit of the SWS range.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4 Phantom II is a two-seat fighter that became one of the symbols of the Cold War and served with the US Air Force, the US Navy and a number of allies. The F-4C version was the first production adaptation for the US Air Force. The cockpit has extensive glazing divided into several parts, so covering it is among the most time-consuming jobs on a model before painting.
In the package are die-cut masks for the cockpit glazing and for the landing gear wheels in 1:48 scale. The shapes follow the Zoukei-Mura kit of the SWS range, specifically item number 6, so the frames fit the parts of this kit without additional trimming. On the wheels a mask separates the rim from the tire, so you spray both parts one after the other and do not have to trace the boundary with a brush.
First wash the clear parts and let them dry, so that no greasy imprint is left under the mask. Lay the mask on, line it up by the frame and press the edge down with a toothpick or a blunt stick. Spray the glazing frames first with the interior color and after it has dried with the exterior shade. Remove the mask as soon as the finish is dry to the touch; the edge will then stay sharp. On the wheels, spray the shade of the tire and remove the mask in the same way.
It will be appreciated by builders who want the glazing of a Phantom clean and the frames even without adhesive tape. The contents are masks only; the model, paints and glue are not part of them, unless stated otherwise.
