A set of stencils for the glazing and the wheels of the older single-seat and two-seat Hornets including the Canadian version, 1:48 scale, prepared for the Kinetic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The first generation of this machine comprised the single-seat A variant, the two-seat B and their upgraded counterpart C. The Royal Canadian Air Force took the same aircraft into service under its own domestic designation and uses them to this day. On the Canadian machines a detail appeared that has no parallel anywhere else: a false canopy is painted on the underside of the fuselage, meant to confuse an opponent in close-range combat about which way the aircraft is actually heading.
The cut film elements cover the canopy glazing and the wheels and are laid out so as to serve the whole group of the variants named. The pattern follows the kits of the Kinetic brand, which has covered this family in several releases.
A set for several variants brings one specific trap with it. The single-seat and the two-seat canopy differ in length and in the number of panes, and when working fast it is easy to reach for the wrong part, because they lie next to each other on the sheet. It is therefore worth laying all the elements on dry before spraying and only then peeling off the backing layer.
The accuracy of the cut itself beats tape everywhere the frame changes direction. It can lead the edge around a curve of a radius that cannot be repeated identically on both sides of the model with a knife and a ruler, and it is precisely the symmetry of the left and right sides that a viewer notices first on a finished model.
