This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, from the BRASSIN range, contains a resin replica of the exhaust nozzle for a model of the Vought F-8 Crusader fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an upgrade accessory that replaces the plastic part with a casting carrying faithful detail of the nozzle and its petals, which injection-molded plastic usually cannot manage.
The Vought F-8 Crusader was an American carrier-based fighter with a characteristic variable-incidence wing, which was raised for takeoff and landing to increase the angle of attack. It was powered by a single turbojet with an afterburner. The Crusader made its name as one of the last fighters whose main armament was cannon, and it served above all with the US Navy.
Wash the castings free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Paint the nozzle in metallic and heat-resistant shades with the bluish and brownish tints of heat-stressed surfaces and add a fine patina.
This is an accessory resin set, not a complete model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
