This set from the BRASSIN line by the Czech maker Eduard holds resin parts of the pilot's station for the model of the Lockheed P-38F Lightning in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an upgrade accessory that replaces the plastic cockpit with a more detailed resin assembly with a faithful instrument panel, seat and side panels. Cockpit sets from this line usually come with photo-etched parts and pre-printed features.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine twin-boom fighter of the Second World War. The P-38F version was among the early machines committed to combat. The pilot sat in a central nacelle between the two booms carrying the engines, and the guns were concentrated in the nose, which gave accurate fire with no need for convergence.
Wash the castings to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Paint the interior in the period shade of American aircraft cockpits, bring out the instruments and the details and add a light patina.
This is an add-on resin set, not a complete model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
