Masks for spraying the Japanese national insignia onto a model of the carrier-borne dive bomber Aichi D3A1. The name gives the variant with a white outline, that is, a red disc traced by a light ring. A sprayed insignia keeps the plane of the finish, makes no glossy step around its edge and does not wrinkle on the ripples of the skin or on the edge of the aileron the way an aged decal can. This item covers the masks, not the Val airframe itself.
The Aichi D3A was a carrier-borne dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy and you can recognize it at first sight by the fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings and by the elliptical outline of the wings. Machines of this type took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor and in the spring of 1942 they operated over the Indian Ocean, where they were among the most accurate dive bombers of their day.
Level and polish the area under the insignia beforehand, because every unevenness will mark a circular outline. On an insignia with a border you work from the light color: the base of the ring comes first, it is left to dry out properly and only then the rich red of the center. Lay the paint down in thin coats and lead the stream at right angles to the surface, so that it does not get under the edge.
