1:48 Empty cartridges 12.7 x 99 (.50 BMG) is an accessory set of empty .50 BMG cartridge cases in 1:48 scale for dioramas and scenes with armament.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set 1:48 Empty cartridges 12.7 x 99 (.50 BMG) is a modeling accessory, not a kit. It contains scaled-down empty, that is fired, cartridge cases of 12.7 x 99 mm caliber in 1:48 scale. In a scene they are scattered under the mount of a heavy machine gun, on the roof of a vehicle or under the open gun bay of an aircraft.
The 12.7 x 99 mm round is known mainly under the commercial designation .50 BMG and is the standard American heavy ammunition of the Browning M2 machine gun. Its aircraft version AN/M2 made up the main armament of American fighters of the Second World War, and the ground M2HB is still mounted on vehicles today. Do not confuse this round with the Soviet 12.7 x 108 mm, which has a longer case for the same bullet caliber; the two are not interchangeable.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a cutting mat, sand off the production remains and degrease the surface. Paint the cases in a brass shade and flatten them down straight away, because fired cases are dulled and sooty. A darker wash at the mouth and a fine pigment on the lower part will do most of the work. In a scene lay them out irregularly, turned in different directions and some of them half sunk into the terrain; glue them with cyanoacrylate glue, or on a soft base with a drop of thin PVA glue.
The set is supplied unpainted. The paints, the glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
