Resin exhausts for late-version Spitfires, 1:48 scale, are an accessory to a kit you have already bought, not a model. They replace the plastic exhausts with a sharper, finer casting.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not an airplane model. It is a replacement resin part from the Czech maker Brengun in 1:48 scale, a set of exhausts for late-version Spitfires intended to be swapped for the exhausts from a plastic kit.
On single-engine fighters the exhausts are among the most exposed details. They sit on the sides of the engine cowling exactly at a viewer's eye level, they are dark against light paint and the eye slides over them first. A plastic part, though, is inevitably a compromise: the outlet tends to be blind or merely suggested and the shape softened so that it can be taken out of a mold. A resin casting has sharper edges, a truer profile of the stacks and reads as metal rather than plastic. Late Spitfire versions also used a different exhaust shape from the early machines, so swapping the part is a matter of getting the version right, not only of detail.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw; on small parts it is safer to cut in stages than in one pass. Level the contact face with abrasive paper laid flat so that the exhausts sit on the cowling with no gap and at the right angle. Bond with super glue. Exhausts are not painted in one color: the base is a dark metal or rusty brown shade, over which a lighter metal is dry-brushed lightly onto the edges, and finally a dry pigment is added for a burnt look. Spray the soot trail behind the exhausts on the fuselage with an airbrush in a very thin black-brown, always in thin coats and in the direction of the airflow to the rear.
This is a replacement part for a model, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
