A set of 3D-printed colored interior parts on decal paper from Quinta Studio. It is neither an airplane model nor a kit, but a detailing accessory that fits out the cockpit with finished colored parts. The technology combines the three-dimensional depth of resin parts with the simplicity of colored photo-etch: a layer of gloss varnish over the dials makes them look glazed, and the small placards, switches and warning lights are printed in color straight away.
The F-105D Thunderchief, nicknamed the Thud, was an American single-seat supersonic fighter-bomber. In its day it was among the largest single-engine combat aircraft, it carried ordnance in an internal bomb bay as well, and it made its name as a strike carrier during the war in Vietnam. The roomy cockpit with its many instruments is a rewarding target for detailing.
The parts are printed on a decal backing paper and are transferred with water: leave the cut-out element in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place. They have no adhesive layer of their own and hold on gloss varnish (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22), which you brush over the surface beforehand; on a broken-up shape a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer at all, as they would attack the printed resin. The panels are pressed gently into the shape of the instrument panel and the side consoles. The set cuts the time spent painting the cockpit considerably and raises its realism.
The accessory is supplied on its own and contains neither a model nor glue. Check compatibility with your particular kit before buying.
