A detail set of exhaust nozzles for the Grumman F-14A Tomcat carrier-based fighter in 1:48 scale from Aires, rendered in the open position. The resin accessory replaces the simplified nozzles of a plastic kit with faithfully detailed outlets for both engines, with spread petals and fine structure.
The F-14 Tomcat was an American twin-engine carrier-based fighter with a variable-geometry wing. The open position of the nozzles corresponds to a larger outlet cross-section, typical of certain engine regimes, for example higher thrust or idling on the ground. This variant differs from the form with closed nozzles in the shape of the outlets.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, separate them from the casting blocks and bond with super glue. The nozzles come into their own with metallic shades and heat-stained transitions; pick out the inner surfaces with a dark wash.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not an airplane model. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
