A set of figures of British infantry and sepoys in 1:72 scale, supplied for painting and for building colonial scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
Sepoys were Indian soldiers in the service of the British East India Company. They were trained on the European pattern, served in regular battalions alongside the British infantry and made up the greater part of the armed forces on which British power in India rested. For two centuries the British infantry was recognized by its red coats, while the sepoys wore similar coats with headgear that followed local custom. Two very different faces of one army thus stood on the same battlefield, which makes a rewarding subject for a scene.
In 1:72 scale a standing figure measures roughly 24 millimeters. At that size extensive scenes with ranks of infantry can be built without taking up the whole table, and the figures are easy to complete with guns, wagons or horse teams in the same scale. Bringing British soldiers and sepoys together in one set makes it possible to build a mixed unit as it really took the field.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest off gently. Wash and degrease the figures before painting, choose the glue according to the material of the parts and check the particular procedure in the manufacturer's instructions. Apply the red in several thin coats over a lighter base, otherwise it stays blotchy. A dark shade in the folds and a dry brush on the edges give small figures depth faster than laboriously picking out details.
For builders of colonial dioramas and for historical wargamers in 1:72 scale. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
