An accessory set of exhaust nozzles in the open position for the F-14A Tomcat model in 1:48 scale. It replaces the simplified kit parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-14A Tomcat is a twin-engine carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing that served in US naval aviation. The tail with its pair of exhaust nozzles is one of its most distinctive areas and at the same time the part that kits tend to handle in a simplified way.
The set replaces the exhaust nozzles of the model in 1:48 scale and brings them in the open position. This version matches a machine captured with the nozzles spread; for the opposite state the manufacturer makes a separate variant with closed nozzles. Choose the position according to a photograph of the particular aircraft you are building.
The parts are not polystyrene; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder flat so that the glued surface sits without a gap. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly. It is practical to spray the inner surfaces of the nozzles before you seat them in the fuselage, because once assembled they are hard to reach. The particular preparation procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set suits modelers who want the rear of the model more elaborate than an ordinary kit allows and do not mind a little sanding of the mating surfaces. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
