This is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for the build. The three-dimensional (3D) decals from Red Fox Studio take the place of the flat decals of the instrument panel and the interior panels that usually come with a plastic kit. The elements have real depth, so once stuck down the interior looks plastic and the small instruments need no hand painting with a brush. The set is cut for the F-35C kit of the Kitty Hawk brand. The manufacturer also makes a set for the Tamiya kit, so look before buying at which kit you have at home.
The F-35C Lightning II is the carrier-borne variant of the fifth-generation combat aircraft, intended for operation from aircraft carriers. Against the other versions it has a larger wing area with folding tips, strengthened landing gear and an arrestor hook, so it can manage a catapult launch as well as a landing on an arresting wire. The larger wing gives it a longer range and a lower landing speed. The cockpit is built around a large-area touchscreen, and against older jet aircraft that is a conspicuous difference on a model.
The elements are cut out one by one and placed directly on the cockpit parts. The procedure is not identical with that for classic wet decals, so go by the instructions of the manufacturer. Keep the base smooth and matte, best sprayed over with a base color. Use a sharp scalpel and tweezers, press the element down with a cotton swab and let it dry with no further handling. Finish the interior and photograph it before you close the fuselage up for good.
It is an accessory for a kit, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
