This item is not an aircraft kit. It is a resin accessory from the manufacturer CMK, which replaces part of the vertical tail of the F-4B Phantom II model in 1:48 scale: the aerodynamic fairing at the top of the vertical tail in the early configuration and the rudder as a separate part.
The Phantom II went through a number of small changes during production, and the top of the vertical tail belongs among the places where early and later machines differ visibly in the shape of the fairing above the fin. A replacement resin part makes it possible to build a model matching the earlier appearance of the aircraft, without your having to work the shape laboriously out of plastic. The separate rudder moreover allows the surface to be fitted deflected, which looks natural on a standing aircraft and lends movement to a scene.
The original plastic part has to be cut off exactly at the line of the join, so mark the cut out first and use a thin saw or a knife. Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent is removed. Take the casting blocks off with a saw and level the area with a file; protect your airways when sanding resin and work wet. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), or else with a small dose of accelerator. We recommend filling and sanding the joint between the resin and the plastic, so that it is not noticeable once painted. Think the deflection of the rudder over before you glue the part on, and apply the paint only once the putty has dried.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
