1:48 F-4G Phantom II In And Out is a double-sided masking set for the glazing of the cabin from Dead Design. The templates cover the inner and the outer side of the canopy, so the frame can be sprayed before the cabin is glued to the fuselage. Target kit: Meng.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the manufacturer Dead Design deals with both sides of the glazing. Against the basic one-sided version it adds templates for the inside, thanks to which the frame is correctly visible from the cockpit too. That also opens up a more comfortable procedure of building: the glazing can be painted completely on its own, away from the model, and is glued to the fuselage only when finished. It is an accessory to a kit of the F-4G, not a model. The set is intended for the Meng kit.
When a clear part is fitted onto the fuselage beforehand, it is awkward to work with: the nozzle of the airbrush gets around the frame less easily, excess paint runs onto the surrounding areas and any repair means sanding in the immediate vicinity of the glass. A double-sided set removes this problem, because there is no reason to paint the glazing on the model. A painted and unmasked canopy is then simply settled in place.
It is precisely when gluing the cabin that the wrong glue does the most damage. Super glue and thin solvent cements for plastic alike release vapors that condense on the inner side of the clear part and leave a permanent white veil, which can no longer be polished out from the inside. Use a glue meant for clear parts, therefore, or a white PVA glue, which dries perfectly clean. Apply it in a small amount only onto the contact surface of the frame. Leave the masks on the glass until the gluing is finished; they will protect it from fingerprints as well.
