F-4J Phantom II electronic bay - early version, Aires resin set 1:48

A resin electronics bay set from Aires in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model - it is a detail accessory for more experienced modelers that lets you show the avionics compartment open on a kit, with faithfully cast equipment blocks. The early version designation refers to the equipment fit matching the earlier standard of the F-4J. The exact contents of the set differ between releases and are not stated here. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.

The real subject

The F-4 Phantom II is an American twin-engine supersonic fighter with a crew of two. The F-4J version served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps. The electronics bay houses blocks of avionics, which on the real aircraft were reached through hinged panels for maintenance.

Installation tips

• Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent and separate them from the casting blocks, cleaning up the mating surfaces with your airways protected.
• Bond resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• For the open bay effect the relevant panel has to be cut out of the fuselage of the kit - follow the instructions and measure twice.
• The detail comes alive once a base coat, washes and paint picking out the wiring have gone on.

Who the set is for

• For builders of an F-4J Phantom II model in 1:48 scale.
• For modelers who want to show the avionics open and build a maintenance scene.
• For more experienced modelers used to cutting into a fuselage and to working with resin.

This is an accessory, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
