Aires 1:48 F3H-2 Demon landing gear bay is a resin detail set that replaces the simplified gear bay of the plastic kit with a faithfully rendered insert.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set from Aires in 1:48 scale adds a faithfully rendered landing gear bay to a model of the McDonnell F3H-2 Demon. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the simplified plastic bay from the box with a finely detailed insert full of ribs, piping and rivets. The set is meant for more experienced modelers.
The McDonnell F3H Demon was a subsonic swept-wing carrier fighter of the US Navy from the 1950s. The F3H-2 was powered by an Allison J71 turbojet with afterburner, and besides its role as an all-weather missile interceptor it could also attack ground targets. The Demon served as the Navy's front-line carrier fighter until the early 1960s and was the direct predecessor of the famous F-4 Phantom II.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to remove the mold release agent. Separate the parts from the casting blocks by cutting rather than snapping, and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand the resin with airway protection or wet, because resin dust is harmful. Prime the inside of the bay and bring it out with a wash and a dry brush.
It is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted resin set. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
