A set of resin landing gear wheels for models of the Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat in 1:48 scale. It holds the main wheels and the tailwheel in the late hub version. The resin castings have a sharp tire tread and fine relief of a kind that is hard to achieve with injection-molded plastic.
The Wildcat F4F-3 was an early carrier fighter of the US Navy from the beginning of the war in the Pacific. The version of the wheels and the hubs changed during production, which is why an early and a late version are told apart. This set matches the late type.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts in lukewarm soapy water, separate the casting blocks and glue with cyanoacrylate. The tire can be sanded slightly where it meets the ground to suggest the load on it. Paint the hubs and the rubber separately and bring them out with a wash for a three-dimensional look.
This is a detail accessory, not a stand-alone model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
