An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier-based fighter Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is a modern new mold with a finely rendered cockpit and engine and with a separate, openable canopy. Depending on the particular edition, photo-etched parts and painting masks are usually included.
The F4F-3 Wildcat was an early single-engine carrier fighter of the US Navy and the Marine Corps at the start of the war in the Pacific. The F4F-3 version had fixed (non-folding) wings and was powered by a radial engine. Although it was less agile than its Japanese opponents, its rugged structure and well-thought-out tactics made it an important mainstay of the American fighter units of the first war years.
Work on the detailed cockpit before closing the fuselage; the canopy can be built open to reveal the interior. Protect the glazing with masks and glue the clear parts with cement for clear parts. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and super glue on the photo-etched parts. Apply primer before painting, spray the shades of the early American schemes with an airbrush, and fit any external stores only after the clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
