Eduard 1:48 F4F-4 Wildcat landing flaps is a photo-etched set of landing flaps for a model of the American Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale.

This is a narrowly focused accessory for a kit, not an aircraft model. The set replaces the plastic landing flaps with photo-etched parts that have a realistic thickness and rendered internal structure, which is exactly what an injection-molded part lacks. Thanks to that the flaps can be shown lowered and the inside of the wing stays legible even when seen from close up. The manufacturer is the Czech firm Eduard of Obrnice near Most. The make-up of the set is stated on the box.
The Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat was a carrier fighter of the US Navy from the first half of the Second World War. Compared with the older versions it was given folding wings, which made it possible to put more machines on the deck of an aircraft carrier, and heavier machine gun armament. It was powered by a radial engine, the landing gear retracted into the fuselage by hand and the machine was known for a rugged structure that stood up to damage. The Wildcat also served with Allied navies.
First study how much material has to be removed from the plastic wing; sets of this kind usually call for cutting the original flaps off and cleaning up the opening. Work slowly, test fit dry and take the material away in small amounts. Cut the photo-etched parts out with a scalpel on a hard surface and make the bends on a bending tool or between two blades. Glue with super glue, as plastic cement will not join metal. Degrease the metal surfaces before painting and lay on a primer for metal, otherwise the shade will flake off.
It is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
