An injection-molded plastic kit of the British carrier biplane Fairey Flycatcher in the late version with the Jaguar IV engine, in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Armory. It is a short-run kit supplemented with a resin engine and photo-etched parts, intended rather for more experienced modelers.
The Fairey Flycatcher was a British single-seat carrier fighter biplane which, as the first machine of its kind, was created directly for service on aircraft carriers. It served with the Fleet Air Arm from roughly the mid-1920s to the mid-1930s. It was marked by good agility and the ability to take off and land from a deck in a short run, thanks to which it could operate even from small vessels. The late version used the Armstrong Siddeley Jaguar IV radial engine and differed in small details of the airframe.
With a short-run kit count on careful cleaning up of the parts and on adapting the joints. Wash the resin parts to remove the residue of the release agent, cut off the casting blocks and glue them with super glue. Apply a primer, mask the glazing and do not forget the bracing wires between the wings or the suggestion of the rib tapes of the fabric covering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
