A set of unpainted figures of German paratroopers with their subject in Normandy in 1944, scale 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
The German airborne troops, the Fallschirmjäger, went through a transformation during the war: from a force meant for jumping they became infantry units committed wherever a defense had to be held. In 1944 they were counted on in Normandy among other places. The fighting took place in country divided by high banks and hedgerows, where infantry in small groups that knew the terrain and moved on foot off the lanes had the upper hand. A group of several men therefore suits this setting better than a single figure.
Figures of German paratroopers in 1:48 scale. They are supplied unpainted, and before work they have to be separated, the surplus material cut off with a sharp blade a little away from the figure and the remainder sanded gently. A figure one hundred and seventy-five centimeters tall in reality measures about three and a half centimeters in this scale, so the face and the equipment stay clearly legible in a display case.
Wash and degrease the figures before painting. Paint the whole group at once and with the same pair of uniform shades, so that the figures visibly belong together; vary the small things instead, that is the shade of the webbing, the dusting of the boots and the skin tone. Settle the shadows with a dark wash and lighten the edges of the folds with a dry brush. Try the arrangement dry: turn the figures toward each other so that it is clear what the group is doing, and only then glue them.
For builders of dioramas in 1:48 scale and for modelers who want to place a crew or escorting infantry beside their vehicles. Paints, glue and brushes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
