1:48 FM-2 cockpit with an armored headrest is a 3D printed set from Eduard that replaces the cockpit of a plastic kit of the FM-2 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
A complete 3D printed cockpit for a model of the FM-2 Wildcat in 1:48 scale. The set replaces the simplified tub from the kit and brings finely made details that cannot be molded in plastic: consoles, levers, the seat and the structure of the fuselage framing. This form matches a machine with an armored headrest, so consider which version you are building before buying.
The FM-2 was the last and lightest member of the Wildcat family. It was built by the Eastern Aircraft division of General Motors and was adapted for operation from small escort carriers: it received a lighter airframe, a more powerful single-row radial engine and a taller vertical tail. Thanks to them it served right to the end of the Second World War, even though more modern types had long replaced it in front-line units. The cockpit of the Wildcat is clearly visible with the canopy open and is among the places where detail pays off.
Carefully separate the parts from the print supports, wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry properly. They are glued with super glue. Try the seating in the fuselage dry before painting, as with resin and printed tubs a little material usually has to be taken off the sides. Spray the cockpit with primer, then the base interior shade, fine-tune the details with a brush, and a fine wash will pick the engraving out. Close the fuselage up only once the interior is finished.
