Photo-etched steel seat belts in 1:48 scale for a model of the Argentine FMA IA-58A Pucara ground-attack aircraft. They replace the flat plastic parts from the kit with faithfully shaped belts.
Responsibility details are not available.
Seat belts are more visible in the cockpit than most other details, because they lie on the seat right in the line of sight. A kit usually handles them only with a hint of relief molding on the seat, or with a flat plastic part that is far too thick for the scale. Photo-etched belts remove that shortcoming: they have the right thickness, they can be bent over the edge of the seat and left to drape as they would in reality.
The name says steel. Steel keeps the shape you give it, so a bent belt does not spring back flat once the tweezers are put down and stays lying naturally in the cockpit. Working with it calls for a slightly firmer hand and a really sharp blade, but the result stands up even to heavy magnification. The parts included and where they go are described in the instructions supplied with the set.
The FMA IA-58 Pucara is an Argentine twin-engine ground-attack aircraft with the crew seated in tandem. It was designed to operate over the battlefield from short unpaved strips and can be recognized by its slim fuselage with a heavily glazed forward section.
Separate the belts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and shape them gradually, not in a single bend. They are bonded with super glue applied in a minute amount, because any excess runs onto the seat. Wash and degrease the metal before painting.
A photo-etched fret with instructions is supplied. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
