This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains a pair of resin main landing gear wheels in 1:48 scale for models of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter, in the variant with the early type of tire tread. It is not an aircraft kit, but an aftermarket detail accessory replacing the plastic wheels from the original kit. The wheels are made as precise castings with fine detail on the hub and the brake assembly. A self-adhesive masking template for painting the rims is usually included in the package.
A resin casting carries crisper detail on the sidewall, the hub and the brakes than injection-molded plastic. The early type of tread matches the earlier Fw 190 production batches and makes it possible to suggest a realistic tire flattening at the contact patch. The parts are designed as a direct replacement for the original wheel from the kit.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts with lukewarm soapy water. Cut off the casting block and sand the surface with respiratory protection. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Use the mask supplied before painting and paint the hub and the tire separately.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin detail set. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
